NAS feat. OLU DARA - “BRIDGING THE GAP”
Growing increasingly unsatisfied with the hipster hype train, I’m on two specific missions of musical education at the moment, trying to listen to as much native New York hip-hop and music from 1968-1973 as possible. This banger falls into the former.
Nas’ “Bridging The Gap” features a hook by his dad, famed horn player Olu Dara - and thus we have the title track from the rapper’s 2004 LP of the same name. The beat is bold and fierce, and the auitobiography makes it endearing - which I love since Nas is usually so hard.
